We hope that your summer has been a positive one. We are thrilled to begin another school year at Culver School. The first day of school for 1st through 8th graders is August 25th. We will be in attendance until 11:30 am. On August 27th, Kindergartners will attend their first full day of school. If you have any questions our calendar is available on line at www.culver71.net. You can download the yearly calendar or view our online calendar which is more detailed regarding day to day events.
We are continuing to work hard to improve the education to your students here at Culver School. Over the last year we have been working on our curriculum in the area of Language Arts, Math and Physical Education. We will continue this work during the school year. You will see an immediate change, if you have a student in grades 1st through 5th , as we have purchased new materials for reading. Our new reading series is called Journeys and is published by Houghton Mifflin. If you are interested in learning more please visit http://hmheducation.com/journeys/organization.php. Curriculum work is an ongoing process. It is our hope however, that by the end of the year, you will be able to view our progress on the website.
Additionally, we have some technology changes that you will notice. The Board of Education approved twelve more Smart Boards to be purchased. At this time six more have been installed and the final six will be ordered as we assess our financial situation during the school year. We continue to utilize our new student system, PowerSchool, that we purchased during the 2009-2010 school year. Students will utilize an ID for purchasing lunch which will be tracked through Power School. Parents will be able to view their students balances on line through PowerSchool as well. We will be sending more information out regarding this and have information posted on the website. If you have lost your password to enter the Power School system or are new to the district you must come in person to the office to receive this ID.
